Year 12 Formal
The Year 12 Formal, on Friday 15 August was a great success.  Students and staff enjoyed the night immensely, dancing  and socialising til 11:00pm. More

Streetswags
Senior students and the social justice groups at HSC had a wonderful opportunity to meet the Founder of Streetswags, Jean Madden.  Jean is also the Patron of Catholic Education Week celebrations in 2008. More

HSC College Band and Flute Ensemble entertained the crowd on Saturday morning 9 August at the Northside Uniting Church Fair. More 

Ballymore Cup 2008
HSC Open Boys Rugby team won the Mackay District Secondary Schools Rugby Grand Final on the 1 August, against Mackay State High School.  Their success ensured them a chance to compete in the North Queensland Finals of the Ballymore Cup in Townsville on the weekend of 9 - 10 August. More 

Readers Cup Challenge
Twelve students from Years 8 and 9 attended the Readers Cup Challenge at Pioneer High School on Tuesday 12 August.  HSC Team 2 were awarded 2nd place and all students enjoyed the opportunity to share their reading experiences with others.  The Year 8s are already looking forward to the competition next year! .More

Year 12 English Forum – ‘EXPLORING THE HEART OF DARKNESS’
Senior English is often thought of by students as a study of old books which never have any real meaning to their everyday life, however, on Monday two Year 12 English classes experienced the stories so often read in books, first hand, and had the opportunity to be educated by the people who often shape the stories. More

Cheerleading Championships
On Wednesday 23 August, HSC’s talented dancers and gymnasts competed in the ‘Queensland All Schools Cheerleading Championships’ in Brisbane.  The squad had trained incredibly hard over the past four months and produced the performance of a lifetime to be placed fourth in Queensland. More

College Rowing
At the beginning of this year Holy Spirit College introduced the sport of rowing to students.  Every Tuesday afternoon students have been training and learning the skills that it takes to excel in the sport. More

College Inter-house Athletics Carnival
The College Athletics Carnival was held on Thursday 31 July and Friday 1 August after being postponed the previous week due to rainy weather. More 

Student Festival of Fashion
Carmen Nicholls and Talitha Auguston demonstrated their talents at the recent Festival of Fashion held on Saturday 26 July.  Both students entered the Wearable Art Category of the Bollywood themed festival.  SFoF is a contest where many up and coming young designers and artists have the opportunity to showcase their talents.. More 

SOSE Carnival
On Wednesday 23 July, the PEC rocked during the SOSE Carnival which was held to highlight Social Science in the College.  Students enjoyed music provided by local DJ, Trent Smith, a free BBQ and give-aways. More

Catholic Education Week - 27 July to 2 August
Catholic Education Week 2008 was marked by Catholic schools, the Australian Catholic University and other Catholic Education agencies throughout Queensland from Sunday 27 July until Saturday 2 August. More.

Rugby Union Grand Final Winners
Holy Spirit College had two teams in the Grand Finals of the Mackay District Secondary Schools Rugby Union Competition, played at Quarry Hill on 1 August, 2008.  The Open Boys team went into the Competition as Minor Premiers and played Mackay State High School and the Under 15 Boys played Bowen State High School. More

‘North Queensland Champions’
Under 14 Futsal Team

On Wednesday 30 July, the HSC Under 14 Boys Futsal team travelled to Townsville to compete in the North Queensland School Futsal State Championships. More

Learning Enhancement Program for Year 12 Students
As part of The Learning Enhancement Program, Year 12 students participated in alternative sessions on Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 July. More 

JCU Experience is on again
Year 12 students interested in tertiary study at James Cook University travelled to Townsville this week to attend the JCU Experience on Monday 21 – Tuesday 22 July. More

Confraternity Rugby League
During the school holidays Holy Spirit College participated in the annual Confraternity Shield Carnival, hosted by The Cathedral College in Rockhampton.The first two days consisted of grading games.  More

Queensland Independent Secondary Schools (QISS) Netball Competition
Our two College representative netball teams acquitted themselves well at the CQ Sporting Complex in Rockhampton, winning many of their games.   More

Language Week 23 – 26 June 2008
Fantastique!  Sugoi! The students and staff at HSC joined in activities and events designed to promote languages, especially French and Japanese which are taught here at HSC. More

Whitsunday Voices
On Friday 18 July, 200 students from Year 8 through to Year 12 joined students from schools around the Mackay and the Whitsundays at Whitsunday Anglican School for this year’s Whitsunday Voice Youth Literature Festival. More

NAIDOC WEEK MASS
Holy Spirit College hosted the celebration of NAIDOC Week School Mass at St Joseph’s Church, Mackay on Thursday 17 July.  Representatives from other Catholic Schools and special Guests celebrated Mass along, with the HSC Year 8 students and Staff. More

Holy Spirit College Students and Staff join the Pilgrimage
Thousands of Pilgrims from across the nation are celebrating WYD08 in Sydney with Pope Benedict XVI.Eleven Holy Spirit College students and four teachers left for Sydney on Monday afternoon to partake in the week long Catholic celebrations.  It has been described as a pilgrimage of self discovery. More
