Holy Spirit College (HSC) held its 2014 Sports Awards Evening on Tuesday 21 October 2014.
Each year, the HSC Sports Awards Evening recognises and applauds the sporting efforts and achievements of our students.
HSC’s Principal, Dr John Lyons, states “It is an important goal of the HSC Health & Physical Education (HPE) program to promote participation and to encourage teamwork and cooperation through friendly rivalry and maximum participation. The second purpose aims to encourage sporting excellence and provide opportunities for the growth of both skills and character.”
Nick Bennett, coach, facilitator and adventurer, was the special Guest Speaker at this year’s Sports Awards. Many will recognise Nick as a member of the hiking group hijacked on the Black Cat Trail in Papua New Guinea in 2013. Nick has been a police officer, trawler man, truck driver, restaurateur and safari guide, as well as having worked with street kids and been involved in setting up community-based projects. His breadth of life experience, ensured Nick had much to offer the sportsmen & sportswomen of HSC.
HSC’s Principal, Dr John Lyons, states, “We proudly welcomed Nick Bennett as our Sports Awards Evening Special Guest in 2014 because he is someone who promotes the desirable values of setting clear goals, persistence, commitment, effort, participation, perseverance and good sportsmanship!. We thank the staff, coaches, managers and parents for their support and encouragement. Congratulations to the 300+ students who received awards on the night.”
