Confraternity Rugby League – HSC Wins Cup Division!
During the first week of the June/July holidays, a group of 20 boys and three staff travelled to Ipswich to compete in the annual Confraternity Shield. The Carnival is regarded as one of the premier junior rugby league carnivals in Australia having produced such players as Johnathon Thurston and Matthew Scott.
The boys were extremely successful playing in the Cup Division of the tournament. After winning all pool games without conceding a point, HSC breezed through to the finals where they came up against stronger opposition. After a nail-biting win in the Semi Final, the boys played St James in the Grand Final. Strong defence and slick backline plays allowed HSC to come away with a convincing 30-10 victory ensuring they won the Confraternity Cup for the first time since 2001.
