Maternity Ward Experience

Year 10 Early Childhood Studies students have had the opportunity to experience what goes on in a Maternity Ward first hand.  After spending many weeks studying pregnancy and childbirth, our students finally got the chance to see the facilities at the Mackay Base Hospital with an exceptional tour guide, Janene Moore, the Nurse Educator.  We toured the antenatal clinic, birth centre, special care nursery and the labour ward.  Some of the comments from our girls:

“The Birth Centre was interesting, especially the birthing pool.”

“Caught a glimpse of a baby in the special care nursery.”

“It was very educational, especially the Infant Radiant Warmer where they do the APGAR scores immediately after the baby is born.”
