Movember – A Personal Story

A group of Holy Spirit College (HSC) teachers is showing their support for the Movember Campaign to ‘spark conversation and raise vital funds for men’s health’[1].

For many at HSC who have been touched in some way by cancer, this is a very personal journey.  HSC Teacher, Adam Vanderlinde said, “My Dad, David, was diagnosed with prostate cancer this year.  After successful treatment he is now cancer-free.  We made a deal that if I did the Movember Campaign he would shave off his moustache of 40 years.  I’ve never seen him without one so it is a big step for him.”

College fundraising through cupcake sales and blue ribbons have also contributed to the $1400 raised this month, with the major contributors being the HSC students.
