YEAR 7s @ THE GOOSEPONDS & BLUE WATER TRAIL
On Tuesday 2 June, all Year 7 students participated in a combined Geography and Science excursion to the Mackay Gooseponds and Environmental Walk on the Blue Water Trail. Students completed animal and vegetation counts, sketched man-made structures and examined macro-invertebrates and a recently built fish passage-way. A relaxing lunch at the Blue Water Quay on the grassed area allowed students to take in the Pioneer River and a group photo of the entire Year 7 cohort constructing the HSC letters in seated positions for a photo. Students completed the excursion with a mangrove identification exercise along the Environmental Walk (Blue Water Trail), finishing at Illuka Park. A tired but enthusiastic group of Year 7 students returned to the College at the end of the day.
